Fiji Aviation Museum

If you are into Second Life aviation and maybe even aviation in our physical lives, then the new Fiji Aviation Museum located at Fiji Isle Airport is waiting, calling you to fly over and take your time to peruse this fantastic aviation.

How do you get to Fiji Aviation Museum?

With the exemption of the ever lazy but instant teleport, you can fly to Fiji Isle Airport. You arrive by landing at the runway at Maho Beach region where you taxi to Bancs Ferrari Isle region where you will find Fiji Airport’s terminal. All jets must immediately taxi to Ferrari Isle as Maho Beach is grass where only propeller aircraft are permitted to remain.

As you enter through the bunker, you find yourself walking through what feels like a corridor with doors separating your passage. As the sign advises, please turn your music stream on as there is a cycle of recordings of aviation history of war planes on display. I have sat and listened to what is very interesting historic accounts of war aviation.

Each aircraft has an information board to take a notecard with information on the plane they are placed. As an example, the note card for the JU87 Stuka has the following opening paragraph;

“The Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka (from Sturzkampfflugzeug, “dive bomber”) was a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft. Designed by Hermann Pohlmann, it first flew in 1935. The Ju 87 made its combat debut in 1937 with the Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War and served the Axis forces in World War II.”

If you are right into aviation history, then you need to make your way to Fiji Aviation Museum owned and set up by, Jenny who also owns Fiji Isle Airport. With aircraft on display and historical accounts played in stream to revolve to keep Fiji Aviation Museum fresh, you really do need to visit and enjoy the dedication put in by Jenny.

Fiji Aviation Museum

The museum has a predominately ww2 theme but exhibits will change and special exhibition weeks throughout the year will see a variety of aircraft represented.
As this is a working collection aircraft and vehicles are not always found in the same place and is not by any means a definitive collection of available aircraft. Notecards are provided by each aircraft to give the history of its real life counterpart and who makes the SL version

Please turn on radio stream to hear a looped stream of documentaries and period music this will always reflect the general theme of exhibits and programmes will change regularly.

Summer, Bondi Beach Sydney

It’s January 2018. For much of the world this is a cold time of the year but for those of us on the bottom half, it is summer or wet season, depending on how close or far you are from the equator.  Now with the holiday seasons out of the way and a holiday from blogging, it’s time to get stuck into it so where is best to start the new year but somewhere I know for real…

Sydney is my city of birth so I decided to spend some time relaxing inworld at Sydney and Bondi Beach regions inworld. It has been a long time since I have visited here as it this was very new at the time.

I can’t remember what Sydney looked when it opened in Second Life but I am happy with almost all of what I see. The inclusion of iconic sites has me feeling like I am at home. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is better than I thought it would be and the Australia Square Building is a must for any inworld Sydney build. Alterations of what’s real and what are rather interesting like Circular Quay where there is a display of Australian cars, minus the British Ford Cortina. The details of Australian cars has me very impressed.

I found a lovely place to lay down and relax at Circular Quay with the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as towers of North Sydney stand proud in the background. This Holden V8 ute was rather comfy to lay on to rest my poor feet from all the walking along Sydney streets.

Now, there are several venues to dance your feet away so I would recommend you join Sydney’s local group ‘Sydney City, Australia’ to be in the loop of what’s hot. There’s also shopping for clothing and other items.

“Welcome to one of the best groups in Second Life! We enjoy all the great things in virtual Sydney and Bondi Beach including the best events featuring original talent acts entertainment, surfing, shopping and awesome events!”

Group key: 70caa33f-f0d8-c896-0af1-4212d7634d44

I experienced nostalgia plus at the ferry terminal which is located at Circular Quay in real world of Sydney. Blue and white transport colours is old hat now and the hydrofoil is long retired but it was awesome to see it. They cut the length of the trip between Sydney and Manly by half. I personally prefer the large ferries.

There are two regions for Sydney and Bondi Beach. Sydney does have Luna Park with the crazy clown face to walk through its mouth but it looks like a dance venue. I’m not sure how they work it but it does look posh.

Bondi Beach is set up with the iconic building at the beach. There are sunbeds to lay out on your own or with a friend. Seschmet joined me to relax at Bondi Beach. We didn’t use the water floaties but rested on one of the many sunbeds.

I do have one personal criticism of Bondi Beach and that’s the dead shark hanging on the beach. Killing sharks as a sport no longer pleases most of us and we are mostly against shark nets so I was disappointed to see a dead shark hanging for all to see like some sports trophy.

We sat outside the pizza shop which has a dine in table set up inside and this outdoor garden furniture which needs adjusting for seating and photo comfort.

Bondi Beach has beautiful big waves however you can’t rez anything to enjoy the water but you can easily relax here. This area is well spread out for people to relax without getting into each others hair. Bondi Beach has a stunning presentation so why not put your togs/cosi(swimmers) on and lay out at Bondi Beach.

Don’t forget your walking shoes to explore Sydney. There are iconic buildings to admire and take your photos of.

SLAD: Beatles Airport

There are airport builds and there are airport builds. Today’s Second Life Airport Destination is a special airport for a few reasons. And even better, this is a new destination.

Owned by an experienced real life  pilot, Jodie Harlow who brings real experience with her role play in virtual aviation, Beatles Airport will bring pleasure to every virtual aviator who loves to fly in and out of airports.

24037556937_05f602efef_zJodie Harlow

Jodie Harlow owns Beatles Airport and Rebel Airlines, and an aviation flight instructor(FlyCo Training Solutions). You can learn how to fly from Beatles Airport. Feel welcome to say hello to Jodie should you see her at Beatles Airport as she is hospitable.

There is a small cafe bar with seating arrangement to rest and socialise while you’re at Beatles Airport so feel free to kick back and enjoy yourselves. Beatles Airport was opened on 7th December, 2017.

Why Beatles Airport? Jodie Harlow is a big fan of the Beatles. Can’t think of a better reason than that.

Technical runway information;

The professionally marked CAT II runway is 192 meters long x 20m wide with headings of 090 and 270 and can easily accommodate small to medium size aircraft on a full IFR CAT II ALS (with centerline and touchdown zone lighting) and VASI system for VFR approaches. Taxiways are also professionally lit and marked to direct aircraft to parking spaces and hangars for easy operations night or day.

With a two or three region approach and a low lag airport, Beatles Airport is perfect for small and medium aircraft. There is scripting to greet you as you taxi your plane between the runway and terminal to better your aviator experience.

My landings and takeoffs were in small propeller and a medium twin jet aircraft as well a helicopter. There are two helipads located on top of the socialising area with a small coffee bar. A staircase leads pilots and passengers to the terminal.

Beatles Airport Terminal is a clean, open environment with a viewer friendly fly in/out display. Upstairs includes office for FlyCo Training Solutions for trainee solutions. The staircase in the photo above leads pilots and passengers to the helipads.

There are two spaces for you plane to pick up and drop off passengers. There are also three hangars and two helipads. I had enough room to navigate my larger planes throughout the airport with no hassles in crossing in and out of Beatles Airport. I am most impressed.

As Beatles Airport is a new airport, there aren’t any particular rp attractions at this airport but there are other activities to be found in surrounding regions including an LCC and GTFO. LCC and Skyward Flying Club.

Jodie Harlow pays special thanks to Emmie McMahn who developed and built runway lights, and Java who helped with advice and with building details including the terminal and texturing.

If you like to play Second Life for friendship, fun and community then Beatles Airport is the airport for you as this is the foundation of Jodie’s Second Life activities.

Venus Beach II – Ladies Only Venue

Ladies, there are two women only venues I frequent in Second Life, both which I plan to cover. Both have plenty of activities to keep you entertained in a fun women’s only environment owned by Laura Garmes and Avion Luminos.

Venus Beach II is a two region destination with much to do with dancing up the top with a weekly round up and changing dress themes, varying music styles and a relaxing chat as we discuss many things like music that’s playing.

venus beach teleport panel_001

When you arrive at Venus Beach II, the entry point will take you to many directions either by foot or teleport. Dancing areas(there are a few dancing areas) are at a short walking distance from the entry point.

If you prefer to walk to explore like I do, there is plenty to see and do as you take in the beauty of both regions here. Or you could select from the teleport board if you prefer. From dancing to shopping, driving, their amusement park, hopping to your death by sky dive should you not release your parachute which can be a bit messy so best you pull that cord so we can enjoy you alive.

With dances at Venus Beach II, I have attended dances covering themes such as food. Dress theme I have been to includes Halloween, rock, medical and mermaid. Yes, there is an underwater dance floor for mermaids as well. You just might get wet at Venus Beach II.

While Venus Beach II is a women’s only venue, you don’t have to be LGBTQI to visit. Bring your adult female avatar and get your wiggle on, maybe fly a hang glider or fly a plane.

Yes, I did mention flying.

There is a small airstrip with a panel to choose a temp rez plane to fly. Landing is the fun part so don’t forget to update your Second Life Insurance before you fly. You can also use one of your own aircraft.

And for you ladies who love driving hard and fast, there is a racing track, again with a temp rez selection of what to drive or rez one of your own. It’s at this location where you may take a parachute and leap 500 metres for the stunning view as you lower to the ground.

amusement park_001

Or come to Venus Beach II to play with friends or bring a date and let your hair down at the amusement park. With rides like dodgem cars, ten pin bowling and hair raising rides, you will have the time of your life.

There is so much to do here from mellowing to blood rushing fun. And if you are looking to meet new people, maybe meet new friends, come to Venus Beach II as everyone is friendly here.

And while you’re here, you might find something you would like to buy to wear. I recently bought myself a pretty dress.

African Modern Arts & Apartheid Museum

I would like to take you somewhere else in this article. A region which despite one of the venues covered having an horrific historical factor, this destination is one that is beautiful and relaxing to explore.

All three destinations covered in this article are owned by Seschmet whose love for her projects are felt at each venue.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

First stop is at African Modern Arts.

You feel warmly welcomed as you walk in through automatic doors where you’re met with a vibrant art display. What makes this Second Life art display different to what we’re use to seeing in Second Life is that every beautiful artwork are by artists in our real lives who have given Seschmet permission to show their work for us to enjoy. The only set back is that you cannot purchase any of the art on display. I’d load up a small truck with at on show if we could buy them.

My three favourites on display are on show in the above photo slide.

There are several levels accessed by stairs. There are is also a bar and a big connect four game. Perfect for young families to entertain young children.

Apartheid Museum

Apartheid laws were enacted by the National Party when they gained control of the South African Government in 1948, enforcing existing laws of discrimination and to seize control of South Africa’s economic and social system. A regime existing through the early 1990’s where Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela(byname Madiba) was elected as South Africa’s first black President.

Located in the same street as African Modern Arts is the Apartheid Museum where each floor level has photos to look at. These photos have no text explanations so visitors can leave with their own discovery. They talk for themselves without any text guidance.

Seschmet has created a museum that’s worth everyone’s attention.

Chelsea Market

While you’re visiting African Modern Arts and the Apartheid Museum, take the time to visit Chelsea Markets where there is plenty to do to relax and let your hair down.

There is a dance floor for social gatherings, a few games including a chess table, dining area and a hotel where you can rent a room. The menu on the window looks scrumptious.

I invited Luke Flywalker from SL Aviation Network to a game of chess. We started off with the pre-game stare down, ending in a stalemate. Who knew Luke could out stare a cat?

2017 Reindeer Collectables

It’s mid November which can only mean one thing.

That’s right, summer is coming!

It’s true. Summer is right around the corner and coming fast. Well, it is in the southern hemisphere.

Mid November also means we are close to late December festivities such as Christmas which will soon be all over the grid.

And venison. This also means venison will soo…

Sorry, Santa’s reindeer will be galloping across clouds and nibbling off lawns and carrots. Mmm hot sizzling venison. I mean, cute fluffy reindeer could soon be yours for free.

Just look at all those cute and fluffy reindeer on the lounge setting. Don’t you want to just cuddle one or snuggle up to all of them. Well, they can be yours. All of them could be yours but how?

BLM’s Official Opening Party

Earlier this year I wrote a destination article on Blue Lagoon Naturist Estate(BLNE) created by Marcy with the help of her team. BLNE is now owned by Alan West as Marcy decided to return to her roots in running a marina where clothing is optional and furries are accepted. All people are accepted.

Tucked in behind Fiji Islands Airport and Malolo Island Marina, north of the Blake and south of Corsica and Gaeta V, the Blue Lagoon Marina(BLM) is located at Chalands Isle.

With 28 moorings and 3 houseboat parcels, long beach and access to Fiji Islands Airport and Malolo Island Marina by series of tunnels, Blue Lagoon Marina is easily accessed by sea and air. Boating into Blue Lagoon Marina is by heading east between Fiji Islands Airport and the AEB & Wings Tuarua Fiji Military Airport, then turn south behind the airport where you will quickly navigate to Blue Lagoon.

Facilities are moorings, parcels, a club house, beach and dance floor located at this laid back homestead region.

To officially open Blue Lagoon Marina on Saturday, 12 Noon SLT was the cheeky man himself, DJ Trey whose humour and music had all of us wiggling our wiggles in a vibrant atmosphere. And as a special treat, we were treated to some entertainment by live entertainer, TrickyLicks.

What a fun party we had with residents and visitors partying on until 2pm SLT. There was even a gesture call for an encore when the party came to a close. This was a full region as we partied hard. There was no rest for the wicked.

Come visit and relax at Blue Lagoon Marina. A relaxing clothing optional marina. You might never leave.
